I am so grateful and impressed with Dental Group West. I had a broken wisdom tooth that needed to come out, and I was in pain. I was able to get a same day appointment, and the staff could not have been more gracious and kind during the difficult extraction process. Dr. Crago and Tracy were amazing.

I Need A Checkup & Cleaning

Routine dental visits are important for several reasons, including that they help us catch (and treat!) tooth decay in the early stages, periodically screen for oral cancer, and remove plaque and tartar. So, if it has been more than six months since your last visit, give us a call! Our friendly and experienced dentists near Ottawa Hills are available for both early morning and evening appointments.

I Want To Enhance My Smile

If your smile is happy, but you struggle with low self-esteem due to stains, chips, cracks, and other imperfections, then it’s time to schedule a consultation with one of our highly skilled cosmetic dentists near Ottawa Hills! During your visit, they’ll learn about your unique aesthetic concerns and goals. Then, they can review the different treatments we offer, including custom veneers, and help you decide which one is best for you.

I Have a Cavity/Broken Tooth

If you have a suspicion that something is wrong, don’t take the “wait and see” approach. Instead, contact our dental office near Ottawa Hills ASAP. The sooner you do, the sooner we can complete a comprehensive oral exam. Then, we can pinpoint the root of the problem, determine the best way to address it, and restore your healthy, pain-free smile.

I Am Missing One Or More Teeth

It’s estimated that roughly 178 million Americans are struggling with tooth loss. If you’re one of them, then you know just how difficult it can be to smile, chew, and speak with considerable gaps. Fortunately, our dental team near Ottawa Hills can help. In addition to offering dental bridges and dentures, we’ve partnered with local specialists to offer dental implants!

I Am Nervous/Scared Of The Dentist

If you struggle with dental anxiety, whether it’s due to a bad experience with a different dentist or a fear of needles, we have good news: we offer sedation dentistry! With calming solutions like nitrous oxide sedation, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation, we can help our patients from Ottawa Hills have the positive, stress-free experience they deserve while getting the high-quality care they need.

I Am Experiencing Jaw Pain

If you are experiencing chronic jaw pain, it’s important that you don’t ignore it. Instead, come to our dental office near Ottawa Hills so we can determine if the root of the problem is TMJ Disorder. If that’s the case, then we will discuss the different treatment options, including having a custom oral appliance made, and help you decide which one is best for you.

How We Help You Afford Quality Dental Care

Our dental team near Ottawa Hills wants you to have the positive, comfortable experience you deserve while maintaining, restoring, or enhancing your smile. Of course, that’s virtually impossible if you’re stressed about the cost. That’s why we welcome dental insurance! You can learn more about this financial solution by clicking on the icon below, but don’t hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions.

We Welcome Dental Insurance

If you have dental insurance, then there’s a good chance that your plan operates under a 100-80-50 coverage structure. That means that 100% of the cost of preventive care and between 50% and 80% of the cost of restorative treatments are covered. Of course, there are also waiting periods, annual maximums, and yearly deductibles that need to be considered, so don’t hesitate to provide us with your membership information when you call to schedule your appointment. That way, we can take a look at the fine print and answer any questions you have about your benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements to become a dentist?

To become a dentist in the United States, you need to achieve the following:

  • You must graduate with a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and have majored in a subject that is heavily based in math and science.
  • You must be accepted into one of the many accredited dental schools in the U.S. and complete what is normally a three-year program. It combines hands-on learning and classroom instruction.
  • After earning your DMD or DDS degree, you can choose to pursue general dentistry or opt for a specialization. The American Dental Association (ADA) recognizes 12 specializations, some of which include orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, pedodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, etc.
  • If you choose to specialize in a field, you will likely complete an additional three years of formal education and training.
  • To maintain your license as a dentist, you must complete a certain number of continuing education courses each year.

How much does a dental checkup and cleaning cost in Ottawa Hills?

Before discussing the price of a dental checkup and cleaning in Ottawa Hills, it’s best to explain what is included in these visits:

  • A discussion about your smile goals, oral health concerns, and the state of your overall health.
  • Dental X-rays that allow your dentist to fully examine the areas unseen by the naked eye.
  • A thorough examination of your mouth (i.e., teeth, gums, bones, etc.) to determine if restorative or additional preventive care is required.
  • A professional cleaning to remove plaque and tartar buildup.

With all that is required of this type of visit, the average cost is $200 and $350. If you have dental insurance, use it, as many companies will pay 100% of the total cost.

What do you do if you can’t afford a dentist?

If you believe you cannot visit the dentist in Ottawa Hills because of the cost, do not assume your smile will be fine until you can afford to pay for treatment. This is why it’s important that you seek alternative ways to pay so that your oral health doesn’t decline.

At Dental Group West, we believe in keeping our services affordable and will happily file claims when using your dental insurance. This ensures you receive your reimbursement on time and obtain the maximum amount.

How much does it cost to get a tooth removed without insurance?

Tooth extraction may be a costly investment, but it’s one worth making. Leaving a tooth in place that is badly decayed or damaged can put the rest of your oral and overall health at risk. Instead, you should have it removed before it has the chance to cause more harm to your mouth and body.

Generally, tooth extraction can cost $150 to $450 without dental insurance. This is dependent on the location of your dentist’s office, the skill of the professional performing the procedure, and your overall oral health. It’s possible that additional fees, like dental sedation and the difficulty of the extraction, may alter the total cost. You can also expect wisdom tooth removal to cost more than basic tooth extraction.
